You need a Facebook Business Page, especially if you don’t have a website. Facebook’s more than two billion monthly active users make it an impossible platform for any business to ignore and let’s face it, if your customers can’t find you on line why should you think they can find their way to your business?

Creating a Facebook Business Page is simple and can give a great return on your investment. First of all open your Facebook page and click on the arrow pointing down in the upper right corner.

When you click on “Create Page” you will see the following screen.

When you click the “Get Started” button, the following screen will pop up.

Once you enter a category, say, Pawn Shop, in the describe your page,  the following will appear. Make sure you fill in all the information as this will help people find you.

Now when you have all the information entered and you hit save, the following screen will appear.

Okay, now let’s talk a moment about your pictures. The first picture you will upload will be your profile photo. This will be the smaller photo on the left hand side of your Facebook business page. This is a good place for a logo or image closely associated with your business. Remember- this may be the first impression that a person gets of your business so make sure the image is clear. The cover photo is also important real-estate. Make sure this is also a clear image that is a good representation of your shop, what you sell and how you want people to think of you.

So, our pictures are uploaded, as you can see in the example below. Facebook will prompt you with the screen below.

You are almost done but there are a few more very important steps here.  Create a username for your business page. This should be the name of your store so that people can find you easily and know who they are in touch with.

You will also want to add a description of your business telling what you offer and what you specialize in.

Now a Facebook page with no followers is only a little better than no Facebook page, so make sure you invite people to like your business page. Make sure that your employees like your page too!

Since you have come this far, why not go a bit farther and, using the add a button link, which will allow you to add e-mail you from Facebook.

Don’t forget to see the other page tips. There is a lot of good information there too.
